& im actually trying to sketch it.. but drawing people is like the hardest thing.

i have no idea why.

sooo my sketch will probably fail to make it on my blog :P.

so todays post comes from the lovely lauren of the little things we do..
just a little something for this lovely friday afternoon.
im sitting in a coffee house on campus and im totally relaxed.
mm.

1.  If I weren't a    student getting a finance degree                I'd love to be     student getting a graphic design degree                  

2.  When I'm super upset I    distract myself with some music or a gilmore girls session... usually followed by a nap     . 

3.  My favorite thing about myself is   my open mindedness, and my creativity            .

4.  If I found a $100 in the pocket of last winter's coat I'd spend it on   _a shopping spree at forever 21            .

5.  Even though some people might consider this a flaw, I love    my bowl-leggedness... it made ballet harder when i was little but now it just makes me more.. me.             .

6.  I love the way I feel    when i wake up early enough to just lay in bed and be absorbed by my blankets and thoughts       .

7.  I love my hair most when it's     deciding to curl pretty, instead of haphazard and frizzy      .

recently i got myself some bangs, and my hair is the same color, so im kinda close.

&& i also have naturally curly hair.

so you might be thinking, well then you have zooey's hair!

yea, well its not that easy.

you see, when i scrunch my hair with mouse, its TOO curly.

and when i try and curl it with a curling iron, its a total fail and falls flat in a minute.

so how do i achieve that optimal messy wavy look?

no idea.

and also.. i need like twice the amount of hair, because mines super thin and i cant have as thick of bangs as id like.

final step: buying the allison headband from busy bee lauren's etsy shop.

(being a broke college student hinders that. bah.)

i could go on all day ...but i wont.

random fact about me #1: im extremely indecisive, ADD (ok, not really, but pretty close), and get bored super quick.

so if you have been reading along with my blog, you know that ive been working on a painting for wayyy too long. i will finish it, i promise. but no matter how hard i try, i cannot focus on one thing for an extended period of time.

thus, i bring you yet another hobby of mine (other than drawing, painting, photography, graphicing, cooking):
my iphone!

no, i dont mean i sit around playing games all day lol. im talking about jailbreaking. which basically means i hack my phone so i can put cool apps on it and theme it to my liking. & now im gonna go on a nerd rant cus i want to :P. 

my current theme:

& thats just the half of it! its themed through and through with matte pop-ups/buttons and pretty loading screens and more. too much to show though.

i dont have too many apps from the jailbreak simply cus they slow the phone down a lot (iphones just do not have a ton of memory space). the ones i must have are:

-categories (so i can put all my games in a folder and not have a million pages to scroll through)

-font swap (allows me to have any font i want)

-status notifier (it puts icons in the top bar for sms, mail, phone on vibrate, and missed phone calls)

-backgrounder (so i can run pandora in the background like the ipod can)

just having the theme and the few apps does slow my phone down a little bit, but i think its totally worth it.

and while christmas was a month ago, im gonna share my xmas theme too cus its baller:

so since i am a typical broke college student and i cannot afford to actually go shopping, im just gonna post the stuff i want here and hope it curves my urge. probably not. but im gonna try.

all while listening to my newest obession: jazz.
well i have always lovved jazz, but i have recently made a pandora station filled with otis redding, etta james, a little aretha, ella fitzgerald, & more classics like that. and then also newer stuff like sara bareilles (my fav), adele, and john mayer. (john mayer is a stretch i know, but hes the bomb).

but yea, on to shopping! :)

i kinda wish i took these, not gonna lie lol. i totally dig all the emotion, and of course the vintage hue and quality. but, alas, they are just from a family photo album.

i love photography. but i dont do it as an art much because i just enjoy graphic design and sketching/painting more.. gotta pick something to focus on! butttt i found these really cool photoshop actions that are like a cheat on how to make normal pics look awesome. so its kinda a inspiration to try and take some artsy photos. and these family album pics are definitely an inspiration.

so what is inspiring you right now? for creative stuff, or for life in general.

what next?

so while i work on the flower painting.. im starting to get inspired for my next painting. oddly enough, im really inspired by a color of a paint i have :P. its about this color:

pretty huh? very BOLD.
and the other thing i wanna try is doing a sort of "expressionist" style.. like a more streaky look/less blending.

i would like to not paint an object, and do something more abstractish? but lol i have no clue what to do. this is as far as i have gotten. i suppose a long session with google/bing is due.

(ps. i love bing for images.)



any ideas of what i could do? i realize thats a super hard question, but hey any idea is an excellent idea. perhaps you know of a building or dress or anything that is the royal blue color that could inspire me? id love you forever.

what im into right now

so before i post anymore art.. i figured i should let you know a little bit about myself. some insight into mee. so here are some things that recently im in love with...


1. acrylic paints

as my post below showed, im currently in love with painting!
i bought the cheap stuff just in case i was awful or got bored after one painting (which is typical for me lol).
itll probably take me awhile to upgrade to better paints even though i dont think this hobby is gonna fade.. its so expensive gah!
and plus i gotta save $$ for an easel! :P
oh, and that plaid thing? my rockin apron i wear.



2. my new boots!

santa rocks.

i wear these with every outfit!

ugh im in love.

just pair them with skinnies and BAM, cute outfit already. no thought needed.

(plus they are warm and georgia has decided to be below freezing daily).

3. parle vous français?

so i have been taking spanish clases for what, like.. 5 years? and i love learning languages so recently i decided to teach myself french!
lets see.. what can i say without a translator...
- le garçon a un pomme. j'ai un poisson. la femme est belle.
&& i also dig anything about the french culture. it kinda bums me out that everyone says the people who live in paris are rude and awful :\.
i used to hate frills and bows. but now i cant get enough! and of course the color black, ivory/tan/gold/etc., and also my next fav..


4. pearls

ugh. i love pearls.
i wear mine as much as possible.
lots of layers!
and even when im not dressing up, i have my large pearl earring studs in my ears 24/7.

so im in the middle of a new painting!! its taking awhile because i have been super busy lately (i like being this busy though so yay haha).. its going to be a painting of a picture of a flower that i took in the washington dc botanical garden:

i have finished the leaves.. and im gonna start the yellow today! get excited, cus im excited.

thai curry chicken! yum!

i love to cook. so im gonna randomly share some dishes im proud of, or that are particularly creative. just cus i can :).

tonight, i made thai curry chicken with green beans. mmm. it was yummy!

FEATURED INGREDIENTS: thai curry sauce from trader joe's, green onions, & my fav, chili pepper powder.

i really need to get some curry powder though. give it a real kick :P.
